Courage comes in many forms. Firefighters, police officers, soldiers, and other heroic people are probably what first comes to mind when thinking of courage and bravery. Sometimes, however, courage is simply living a life of kindness after being treated terribly in the past. As well, it is not only humans who can be courageous.
Hudson is a pit bull puppy who is one of the finest examples of fortitude a person will find. He is currently making a difference in the lives of others through his role as a therapy dog. Helping people with emotional hardships find peace and happiness is a noble pursuit, and therapy dogs are one of the most effective ways to soothe stress and anxiety.
What makes Hudson so remarkable, however, is that he shows such kindness to humans after his past owner abused him in the most horrific manner imaginable. Hudson and his siblings were nailed to railroad tracks and left to die. One did, and the other lost some toes. Hudson himself lost his back left paw.
After being rescued by railroad workers and given a prosthetic foot to enable him to walk, Hudson was able to rebound from such a horrific start to his life. The puppy is not only living a happy life, but doing so while making others happy as well. It is truly remarkable that he has the strength to trust humans and cater to their emotional well-being after the way he was treated when only a few weeks old.
Pit bulls are often a source of controversy, with some fearing that they are too violent and dangerous a breed. If Hudson is any indication, it seems that these dogs can be just as loving and gentle as any other. In fact, Hudson has taken the compassion extended to him by his rescuers and passed it on to others in need.
Sometimes, the kindest people and animals are subjected to horrible mistreatment. The courage that it takes to not only survive, but show kindness to others afterwards, is truly inspiring. It is safe to say that despite being a small puppy with a missing foot, Hudson has a much stronger character than his abuser.
