20 of the Best Dog Breeds for Toddlers

Collies

Dogs are the most amazing pets, especially for children. But not all dog breeds are very good with kids. To some, this might not come as a surprise. To others, however, this news might be a little shocking. After all, dogs are supposed to be man’s best friend, so they should love kids, right? Well, not so much. Some dogs are just not as tolerant of kids as others, and some dog breeds prefer kids when they are a bit older. Not all dogs are great with kids, and that’s a big deal. This is especially true if you have toddlers or smaller kids in the house. They can be a bit aggressive, overwhelming and not always particularly gentle when it comes to dogs. They certainly do not intend to be rough with animals, but they’re just kids who are at an age that doesn’t allow for them to know any better. With that said, perhaps we need to help our future dog owners with toddlers know which animals are best or them.

  1. This author is dangerously misinformed and should not be writing this kind of article.

Irish Setters are NOT intelligent. In fact, they’re one of the stupidest breeds of all.

Collies are herding dogs and, as part of their job description, tend to be snappy.

Pit Bulls were NOT called Nanny Dogs. Google it…it’s a myth.

    1. I m Sorry Cat Harris you are the one that is misinformed…I had A friend who owned a Irish Setter,it was a very smart dog.
I ‘ve owned collies,Shelties and Border collies do they do nip at the ankles, when kids run, but collides n shelters,do not get snappy, they tend to circle the kids n bark having as much fun as the kids.
As for pitties they are very loving and would not doubt they could be Nanny dogs or used at one time for that purpose..
PPL,ITS ALL ABOUT TRAINING FOR THE MOMENT YOU GET YOUR PUPPY OR DOG!! Please do study the breed of dog, take time to talk to vets n breeders about the dog your interested in…It will save so much heartache in the end. And the most important of all is be sure you have the TIME to raise n train a puppy or a dog.
There is no such thing as a stupid dog,it depends how you relate to it,time spent training. Some dogs are stubborn, and requires a patient, firm, not abusive owner.
