The Doberman Pitbull Mix: A Highly Capable Working Dog

Doberman Pitbull Mix

When it comes to ability you probably won’t find a better mixed breed of dog like the one in this next article.  This working dog combination is best suited for people who have enough room for these animals to patrol.  Which hybrid dog am I referring to?  The Doberman Pitbull Mix of course.

How About Temperament Will I Have To Worry?

While there is great debate about the temperament of these dogs, many people who have owned them will tell you they are a pleasure to have.  The Doberman Pitbull Mix is the perfect combination of both speed and strength, which makes the perfect dog for home protection.  But you might want to have your dog go through an obedience training course, which combines behavioral training with socialization.  This will ensure that you are getting a well-rounded animal that won’t simply attack anything that moves.

What About Size, Will These Dogs Get Very Big?

This really depends on the individual animal because you are crossing two different breeds.  But in general, you can expect your pooch to grow to a healthy 80 to 90 pounds.  These hybrids are also tall in nature.  So if you are not looking for a big dog, this probably isn’t the breed for you.  They will also need room to move around in so having a medium to large backyard is ideal play areas for these dogs. If you live in an apartment, you need to make sure you have the time to walk this working breed mix twice a day.  Failure to do so might end up costing you sleep. These dogs will often bark at all hours of the night if they are restless.

Where Can I Find One of These Dogs?

There are many people now who are working hard to breed high quality versions of these dogs.  But you will have to be aware that some folks are simply in it for the money and don’t care what kind of animal they produce.  Finding the right breeder can be difficult but not impossible if you do your homework.  A great way to find a good breeder in your area is to ask your Vet.  He or she will probably know who is breeding these dogs and may have even treated their animals before.  Your Vet will also know who isn’t doing a good job of breeding and can advise you who to stay away from.
