My Bassett Hound just got over a stomach flu so I made a trip to Pet Co. to buy her some doggie ice cream. She was feeling better so of course I had to get her goodies! As I was walking around the store I found an incredibly touching poster that gave me goosebumps, followed by a lump in my throat. (Gosh, how I love dogs!) I asked a store associate if they had any extras but they only had the one that was hanging in the store. When I was done reading it I thought to myself, “I have to share this with my readers!” I took it upon myself to write down everything that was on this poster. For any dog lover out there – even those that do not have dogs, this will melt your heart. Please share this with your family and friends.
Dogs are the only living things that love us more than they love themselves. In this world what would we do without our dogs? We are the most significant being in their life and they know when we need them. Dogs are so loyal that when you read this, it is probably and exactly what our dogs would want for us. And so it goes…
Before humans die, they write their last Will and Testament, give their home and all they have to those they leave behind. If, with my paws, I could do the same, this is what I’d ask…
To a poor, little stray I’d give:
My happy home
My bowl and cozy bed. My soft pillows and all my toys
The lap which I loved so much
The hand that stroked my fur and sweet voice which spoke my name
I’d Will to the sad, scared shelter dogs, the place I had in my humans loving heart of which there seemed no bounds.
So when I die please do not say, “I will never have a pet again, for the loss and pain is more than I can stand.” Instead, go find an unloved dog; one whose life has held no joy or hope and give MY place to him.
This is the only thing I can give…
The love I left behind…
