It’s not as if we don’t know there are homeless dogs in the world. It’s not as if this comes as a shocking surprise to any of us. We see them regularly around town, hanging out by the garbage cans at restaurants and stores, begging for food from anyone and everyone that they meet. Perhaps we feed them. Perhaps we feel momentarily sorry for them and their unfortunate manner. Perhaps we wish there was something we could do for homeless dogs that would make their world a better place. Most of us don’t. Our thoughts are fleeting and our minds are quickly refocused on life and what it means to us.
The World Animal Awareness Society works to film animals with humans so that they can study their interaction and help both coexist more happily and effectively. While working on a new project, their film crew happened upon a homeless dog. Unlike many other homeless dogs, however, this one was a bit special. This homeless dog was carrying around his water bowl. He was carrying it around and he was waiting on someone to feed him. He never puts it down, and it serves to us as a reminder that the life of a homeless pet is a difficult one. It also makes me wonder if perhaps he had a home of his own at one point knowing how a food bowl works. This video is short, and very simple, but very heartbreaking and effective. We recommend it for you to view.
