What is Musher’s Secret Pet Paw Protection Wax?

We’re not only protective of our children, but of our pets, too. For many people, their pet is just like their child, and you would go to any length to keep them healthy and happy. If you are dog owner, then you know what they are capable of as furry little balls of energy. They love to run and play, and many dogs spend a lot of time outdoors, which can be a good thing, but it can also be hard on their little paws.

Your dog’s paws take a lot of abuse. Since dogs don’t wear shoes, and they’re often exposed to all different types of conditions, it’s important that they’re paws are protected when they are outdoors or plan to be. One way you can help protect your dog’s paws from the elements, such as extreme heat and cold, and other issues that might affect their pads, is by putting a protective wax barrier on their pads to help prevent potential paw problems and injuries.

What is Musher’s Secret Wax?

Musher’s Secret is a wax product that also contains vitamin E, and is rubbed on your dog’s paws to protect them when they are outdoors and may encounter surfaces that are too hot, too cold, rough terrain, etc. When your dog is running on the hot sand, walking or running through the woods on a hunting excursion, taking a jog with you on the hot pavement, or walking through cold snow or on ice, it is important that their paws are protected from the extreme conditions that can cause sores, injury and breakdown of the skin on the pads that may lead to infection.

The wax offers a dense barrier against potentially harmful surfaces and elements their paws come in contact with. It creates a breathable bond to your dog’s paws and will provide steadfast protection. Once the wax is applied, the semi-permeable shield absorbs into the paw, which allows the natural process of perspiration that happens between the dog’s toes, to continue without interruption. It is safe, all-natural, and is made of several types of food-grade waxes so that if your dog licks his paws, it will not cause any harm to them or their digestive system.

Easy to apply

The wax is easy to apply. All you have to do is apply a light layer of the Musher’s Secret wax on the bottom of each paw and it will absorb in just minutes. If you want to know how long it takes for it to absorb, rub a little onto your own hands at the same time. When you feel it has absorbed into your own skin, then you will know that it has already absorbed into your dog’s paws as well. If the outdoor conditions are extremely cold and harsh, such as lots of snow and ice, you will want to rub a bit extra in between the toes and pads for added protection. This helps prevent snow from collecting between the pads to create little snowballs there, and make for uncomfortable walking.

How often should you use it?

You’ll want to apply the wax on your dog’s paws about 1-2 times per week, however, if the conditions happen to be extra bad or extreme, you may want to increase this by adding an extra application each week or until the conditions lighten. This will also vary and be dependent on how many times your dog goes outside each day or for how long he stays out in the elements.

What types of conditions can it help?

Musher’s Secret protects dog’s paws from hot sand, hot pavement, salt, ice, harsh wooded areas, when your dog hunts, takes long walks, it is for mushing dogs, and any general outdoor activity that may be hurtful for your dog’s paws. It helps prevent drying, cracking, burning, abrasions, and splitting of the paw.

Your dog and his paws will thank you for caring enough to protect them when he’s working or playing outdoors. If you want to help keep your dog active year-round, this quick and simple application will give your dog every reason to want to stay active.
