We as humans have come a long way in the world of 3D printing. There are all sorts of helpful and useful things that can be made using a 3D printer. In fact, for a few years now people have been utilizing these printers to make prosthetic limbs which have helped many people walk again. But now this technology is being used to help the canine world as well.
One dog that is benefitting from this amazing technology is Derby, a small mixed breed dog that was born with deformed feet. For many years, Derby struggled to get around. But after receiving a prosthetic walker, this pint sized pooch can really get around. Thanks to this new technology. The makers of this prosthetic were about to design and sculpt the device right on the computer. This really saves both time and money. It also allows the builders to custom fit the device to each and every animal without the need for costly adjustments.
As you will see in the video below this dog simply loves his new wheels. He can now walk around and even run and play, which is a truly amazing sight to see. As you watch the video you too will be just as amazed as I was. The joy on this animal’s face as he runs side by side with his owner is priceless. It almost brings a tear to your eye knowing just how happy this prosthetic had made this dog.
Derby is now even able to play with other dogs while roaming the park, which is something he had always wanted to do. Thanks to this technology and the people that built this device, Derby now has a new lease on life and seems to be a much happier dog. You will see in the video that he is very thankful to all that is involved in helping him run.
I hope that someday every disabled dog can benefit from this amazing technology. But outfitting Derby is a step in the right direction. As technology grows, I am sure there will be lots more dogs getting these life changing devices.
