Today’s 3D printing technology has made some pretty amazing things possible. This new technology brings down the cost of production and reduces the time it takes to make a working model. Many different items have been made with a 3D printer, including something you might not expect. As you will see, 3D printing is not just useful to use humans. Meet Bubbles, a beautiful Dachshund who was born with a particular problem. You see, this pint sized pooch was born without front legs. Her owner Trevor Byers was very worried for the canine and did not want to put her down. But he was concerned that she might not have a quality life if she couldn’t get around. This prompted him to think out of the box.
After thinking things over, Byers decided to create something that would help his dog move around. As the dog grew, Byers started coming up with a plan. But after working on a wheelchair for the dog with conventional methods, Byers failed to produce a working model. This really frustrated the dog owner, but he wasn’t going to give up trying. Then 3D printing came out. Byers was hopeful that the 3D printer would help him speed of the process and actually create something that his dog could use. After coming up with a solid design, that was lightweight yep durable, Byers put his plan into action and started to fire up the 3D printer.
As you can see in the video below, Byers printed out a very easy to use wheelchair, that fits nicely on Bubbles. With her new set of wheels Byers can hardly keep up with his super fast pet. Now Bubbles gets to enjoy days out at the park and can even outpace some of her canine friends. It seems that Bubbles is really enjoying herself these days. If you want to see this amazing dog and her unique wheelchair, check out the video below. Byers has posted the instructions on how to build your very own wheelchair and if you are interested you can find the plans at this link http://www.instructables.com/id/Small-Front-Leg-Dog-Wheelchair/?ALLSTEPS.
