A Dog Hurt in Drive By Shooting is Recovering

Thanks to a local rescue group a dog named Penny is recovering after being shot in a drive-by shooting.   She was shot over the weekend and took wounds to her shoulder.    Penny’s owners called Animal Control who then turned the dog over to Every Dog Counts Rescue in Indianapolis.   The staff at that facility specializes in taking care of injured dogs.

Director Tara Harris told 24-Hour News 8 Penny was sad and shy when she was picked up for surgery. But now, she’s starting to come out of her shell. “Now we see tail wagging and she greets us happily, and I think she was a little overwhelmed by all the changes, but she’s warming up nicely. I think she loves being a snuggle bug,” said Harris.

In order to pay for Penny’s medical bills a Facebook Page has been set up where people can donate money.   There is also hope that Penny will find a new home.   We hope so too!  Please spread the word.
