The last thing anyone thinks when they adopt a dog is that the dog will end up saving their lives. But that is just what one adopted dog did for its new owner. Actually, this happens quite a bit. It is like the dog knows the person saved them from a tougher life, so they want to return the favor and save that person, too. Take Clobber the Greyhound, for example. A great story that reminds us a dog’s love can save us in more ways than one.
So when Erin Cramer adopted Clobber, she had no idea that she was making a decision that would save her life. She just knew she had a connection with the dog and wanted to give the dog another chance. Yet a few months later, she noticed Clobber acting strange one day. The dog kept running back in the house when she took it outside, and sniffing all one wall in particular. That is when she says a “wall of gas” hit her, and she realized, that is what Clobber was trying to warn her about. She took her daughter outside and called the proper authorities. Sure enough, the house had a substantial gas leak that probably would have ended up killing all three of them had Clobber not noticed and warned her master.
The gas heater was leaking natural gas, and they found it and took care of it soon enough that there were no major problems, but that is all thanks to Clobber the adopted dog who saved one family’s life. The reality is, dogs have a strong sixth sense about danger and things being off, and we are really lucky they are kind enough to share that information with us.
