Meet Lucky, the dog with the worst luck around this past year. This beautiful dog is nine, and his family was not all that concerned about his safety and his life. They have one of those invisible fences in their yard that is designed to keep their dog in using its collar. It’s a nice idea when you want to keep your dog in the yard and prevent it from getting out and wandering off, but it does very little to protect the dog from other dangers. For example, two bigger and meaner dogs came onto the property to attack Lucky, and he was in bad shape. Animal control officers told the homeowners they need to build a real fence to keep the dog safe, and they did not. So when the dogs came back a second time to attack Lucky and his injuries were even worse, animal control took the dog.
Unfortunately, their method of handling a situation like this is to put the dog down. However, there was a long fight, a battle that took months in the local court system to make this stop. Lucky was kept alone, locked up and away from people and animals for that entire time. Finally, the Devoted Barn came in and took the dog. They, along with an animal behavioral therapist, performed tests to see if the dog was the attack dog, the dangerous dog that they thought he was. He passed the test being non-aggressive and he now gets to live out his life at the Devoted Barn with other animals that no one wants. It’s thanks to these people that this dog is happy, safe and really enjoying his life once again.
