By now, it’s common knowledge among dog owners and dog lovers alike that there are many human foods that our furry friends should not consume. Foods such as grapes, coffee, and chocolate round out the lengthy list that could even be fatal to our dogs. To many, that means that for our canines to be completely safe, they should actually stay away from human food. According to the lifespan and lifestyle of Britain’s oldest dog, that isn’t necessarily the case. After all, the British pup actually had the same diet as its owner. Crazy, right?!
A Jack Russell terrier named Daisy was Britain’s oldest dog at 23 years old, making it over 100 years old in dog years! What’s even more incredible than her old, old age is the fact that Daisy consumed the same exact diet as her owner. At the age of two, Daisy was a stray that was rescued from an animal shelter in 1993. After getting rescued by a 50-year-old gentleman named Mark Barsby-Finch, the family dog never had to eat pet food another day! That just goes to show the love and adoration Mark had for the pup, and it’s no shocker that he misses the female dog very much so, and isn’t afraid to say it aloud.
“She was with us all these years and we’ll miss her terribly,” Mark admitted. “It’s going to be difficult to get used to cooking for just the two of us now, Daisy used to have exactly what we ate.”
