Can We Help This Abandoned Dog Who is Fighting for Her Life?

An animal hospital in Fayetteville, North Carolina is fighting to save the life of an abandoned dog.  According to reports, the dog was left in an abandoned home and was locked into a crawl space.  The emaciated pup who is now named Precious was discovered by a couple who happened to passed by the house where the animal was locked in.  It is believed that the dog was left there to die.  Without food and water and no way out, Precious almost starved to death.  At the time of her rescue, she weighed less than 23 pounds which is very underweight for a pup of her breed.  The dog was then taken to Highland Animal Hospital for a checkup, where the vet discovered quite a few health issues that Precious has.

Dr.  David Barkman of Highland Animal Hospital hopes that the pup will survive her ordeal.  According to Dr. Barkman, Precious tested positive for Lyme disease and has intestinal parasites, heartworms and hookworms.  The pup also has low red blood cell count and received a blood transfusion to improve the red blood cell count.  Precious’s condition is really bad and doctors and nurses of the animal hospital are doing their best to help save the dog.  “She has got a long way to go, but we are pulling for her,” said Dr. Barkman during an interview with ABC11.  The vet added that the next few days are going to be difficult for Precious.

Aside from round the clock care that the pup get, the pup is also getting some love from the hospital staff.  We hope that the love and care that the staff gives her will help her get through the tough times and make her a happy dog again.  Rescue groups in the area are currently bearing the cost of Precious’s medical treatment.  It is still unknown what the final cost for her treatment will be.  Let’s help Precious fight her battle by praying for her recovery, sharing her story and make a donation to help pay for her medical bills.  For more information about Precious, contact Highland Animal Hospital at https://www.facebook.com/pages/Highland-Animal-Hospital/158873324143479 or call (910)484-2131.  We wish Precious fast recovery and hopefully, she will be able to find a forever and loving home when she is 100% better.
