Just because you are angry about something, doesn’t make it acceptable for you to throw a living, breathing thing such as a dog around and injure it. In fact, it is never okay for anyone to do that ever – that’s the lesson an animal abusing man in Houston had to learn. Larry McHale was banned from entering a Houston-area Starbucks coffee shop when he became enraged and threw a 4-pound Chihuahua against the store’s window, causing the pup to suffer a broken back leg and will need pins and plates to fix it. Rightfully so, McHale was arrested right after the incident happened and has been charged with animal cruelty.
The incident happened at around 9pm on October 21, with employees calling the local authorities – thanks to the Starbucks employees, the pup was able to be saved. Jasmine Hyder, the manager of the Starbucks the incident occurred at, explained that McHale had been banned by her because of his incessant harassment of customers, and had been banned for three months.
“It was so loud, the window sounded like it was going to break,” said Hyder. “He’s like, you don’t care about humans. You only care about a dog.”
No one really knows if the dog was McHale’s or if it was just a random dog who was unfortunately at the wrong place at the wrong time. Nevertheless, animal lovers are making it their mission that the lowly animal abuser is never going to lay a hand on the poor pup again. In fact, the Chihuahua has since been dubbed “Starbucks” and has been up by Frisky Paws Rescue after Starbucks’ brief stint with Houston’s Animal Shelter and Adoption Facility. Frisky Paws is not only taking great care of the canine, they are also trying to raise the $1,000 it is going to take for the surgery she needs.
