Kids in a Detroit neighborhood are helping Detroit Pit Crew Dog Rescue by contacting the rescue group whenever they spot a stray dog. Mikey and Armand help rescue stray dogs in their neighborhood. Kids in their neighborhood including them are often not in school. Despite of the fact that they live in a rough neighborhood, they are very kind and loves animals which is really a great thing.
“It’s a huge thing for them for them to do ‘cause with all the influences around here they don’t have to be giving the dog to us or any other rescue. They could be doing so much worse things to these dogs; selling them to be used for bait dogs instead of just giving them away to do the right thing. When they could be doing so much worst,” says Josh of Detroit Pit Crew Dog Rescue.
The video below features the rescue of a one-year-old Pit bull that has been living inside an abandoned home and the relationship of the rescue group and the kids that are helping them. World Animal Awareness Society or WA2S filmed the rescue. While walking one of the rescue group staff noticed a dog inside an abandon house and alerted the rest of the group. The crew immediately went inside the house and checked the pup. It was pit bull whom Mikey calls “red oak”. Theresa approached the pup and offered some food. At first, the dog was scared and hesitated to let her put the leash on her neck. Slowly but sure Theresa managed to put the leash on the pit bull and brought it in their truck where the pup enjoyed munching some dog food.
It’s wonderful that Mikey and Armand really believe in helping stray and abandoned dogs. We are very glad that they are spending their time helping in the rescue of stray dogs in their neighborhood. We hope that they will continue to do this act of kindness and help many more animals in the years to come. Just think about how great it would be if many kids in every neighborhood in the US will want to help save stray and abandoned animals instead of ignoring and abusing them? The Good Pet Guardian Lesson Plans is an initiative designed to teach 4th grade students in Detroit on how they can help save a stray dog’s life.
