What is Cephalexin For Dogs?

Cephalexin is an antibiotic given to dogs (and believe it or not, some humans) to help fight infection. It is an antibiotic, good for many things. It is much like Penicillin in how it fights and kills bacteria. The truth is, we thought we would take a moment to talk about Cephalexin with you so to inform you in case you ever in a scenario where a vet wants to give it to your dog. Knowledge is power when it comes to our canines.

Cephalexin acts like a Penicillin and fights and destroys certain bacteria that are not good for your dog and can potentially harm them. It can also fight infection, in some ways, more precisely than even Penicillin. Cephelexin will prevent the bacteria from forming an actual cell wall, which can make all the difference when a dog is fighting an infection. Though be very aware, Cephelexin is not the least bit effective against parasitic infections of any kind, so do NOT make that mistake as it could cost your dog its life. This is an extremely powerful antibiotic, but not what you would want to use in the case of anything parasitic.

A well-known and well respected medicine, we just wanted to make sure that if your vet ever said the word cephalexin, you would at least know what he is talking about.
