Dog Living In a Burned-Out House Gets Her First Warm Bath

Duck face selfies and too many personal issues being put out there for too many people to see aside, Facebook is a big help with it comes to finding missing animals, helping abandoned animals and finding new homes for animals that are just looking for love in all the wrong places. The same is true of a dog by the name of Kiya. Someone snapped her photo just outside of Tampa and made it their mission to rescue her. She’d been spotted living in a home that long ago burned to the ground, calling the burned shell her home.

When someone tagged a well-known local animal rescuer by the name of Dusty Showers in the photo of this sweet girl, he knew he had to rescue her. He found her, but he also found it impossible to get to her. Showers spent some time trying to get this gorgeous dog to trust him, to no avail. He finally had to resort to setting up a trap to get the dog, and that did work. When he arrived the following day, he found Kiya in his trap, growling, angry and untrusting of him.

Showers tried to calm the dog, but it was not working. He made the decision to lower his leash into the trap and around her neck, and he got it. That’s when he finally got the beautiful dog out of the trap. Her personality changed immediately. She came up to Dusty, rubbed his legs with her body and wanted to befriend him. So, he took her out for some cheeseburgers and then brought her to a foster home. She is a beautiful, sweet dog, and it did not take her long at all to find a new home to call her own. Thanks to Dusty, Kiya is living her own happily ever after now.
