In a densely populated suburb north of the city of Athens, Greece, Lina and her daughter and frequented a pet shop near their home for their dog’s grooming and food needs. A few of the times she went in the shop, Lina noticed a medium sized white dog who would be near the entrance or inside the store, but she was informed that the canine didn’t belong to anyone. A couple of times she’d see him with an obviously homeless lady who had a small dog of her own and was also white. The homeless woman asked Lina one day if she wanted to adopt him. There was nothing she’d wanted more, but at the time shewas living in rented premises and her landlady barely tolerated the one dog, Sassy, they’d had while they lived there.
Soon after, Lina and her daughter moved to their own apartment not too far away and, as luck would have it, next time she went to buy food for her dog, the white stray was sniffing around the shop once again. Lina went straight back home, took Sassy and returned to the shop. She took them both on a walk to see how they would behave and, seeing that they had no problem, decided to take him home. The dog rescued just sat in the car seat next to Lina, keeping his eyes on her the whole drive home and did not move.
It has now been over five years since Benny came home with them and they haven’t looked back.
