Save Money While Spoiling Your Dog

Treating your dog to special treats and toys is one thing, but living outside of your means with it is just not a great way to spoil your dog.  We all want the best for our animals, but sometimes you need to watch your wallet.  Your dog won’t know the difference between the brand foods and the generic foods.  If they do, then they might need therapy!  This doesn’t mean that spoiling your dog has to stop just because you need to start saving money.  Spoiling your dog can work even when you don’t have a lot of money to spare.  Big Lots and The Dollar Store have a lot of great pet items to offer that don’t make you want to scream at the price.  There are ways around it that will still keep your bank account from wanting to reach out and shake you out of your bad spending habits when it comes to spoiling your dog.

a lot of dog toys

Start off by spending money on the off-brand food and treats rather than the expensive name brand food and treats.  If your dog shows signs of not eating the off-brand at first, just leave it in their bowl.  Your dog will eventually become hungry and eat the whole bowl of food.  If you are scared that they are not going to eat, there is really no need to worry. Dogs have a tendency to eat everything, even if it’s not IAMS.  Plus, stop giving your dog table scraps and you will save some money on groceries, too!  You can also provide your dog with a normal amount of toys to play with.   Your dog should have a total of maybe 5 or 6 toys that they can play with by themselves or with you.  This will save you over $100.00 on toys every year and you will still be able to spoil your dog with what they actually do have to play with.  That money could be used for a lot of things that you need around the house.

Dogs are like humans and enjoy having their own space from time to time.  The whole Barbie Dream House Dog Version is going to have to be put on hold until you are able to save up some more money.  Why spend over $500.00 on a huge dog house that is the size of your back yard.  The only thing that they will notice inside is where they have marked their territory and where they haven’t.  Save and spoil, people.  It is definitely possible.  Another way to save at least $30.00 a month and still spoil your dog is to groom them at home.  There is no need to take your dog to get washed somewhere that you have to pay for it.  Do it all right at your own home!
