Support a German Shepherd Rescue Near You

German Shepherd

German Shepherds are loyal animals that will protect their owner no matter what the situation.  That’s probably why so many of these dogs are produced every year.  No matter what part of the country you are in, I’m sure you will find several people breeding these animals.  In fact, I bet your local newspaper has at least one ad for these dogs. But this love for these dogs has caused a really big issue with over population.  Many of the dogs that are born will not be sold to new owners.  Instead the leftovers puppies will likely end up in county or city shelters only to be put to sleep. This is a really sad situation but luckily there are people out there trying solve this problem.

German Shepherd Rescue around the country are working hard to find homes for these deserving dogs.  They take in these unwanted animals and try to find homes for them. Unlike shelters that put down animals after a few weeks, these German Shepherd Rescue groups house the dogs until homes can be found.  But this can be a very expensive endeavor and that’s why they need your help. By supporting these groups, you are helping to fight over population and the end of puppy mills.  Once you have given a dog a new home, another one will get the chance of being saved from the needle. You can find many of these groups around the country and if you don’t have one in your area, you can find one online.  They will be glad to work with you and see that you get one of their loving dogs to call your own.

Why Not Help Stop Dog Over Population?

Instead of going to a dog breeder, why not consider getting your new pet from one of these groups?  You will be giving an animal a home that otherwise would have be sentenced to death. Often times, these dogs are very healthy and intelligent animals that just got a bad deal.  Bringing one of these dogs into your home will be a great way to still get the breed you want without adding to the problem.  For a small adoption fee, you will have a brand new animal to call your best friend.  These dogs are often very appreciative of their new owners and will show it by giving you lots of love and affections.  So this year, why not do something kind for the dog world and bring one of these amazing animals into your home?
