Found by the Side of the Road and Her Mouth Taped Shut, This Dog Refused to Give Up

It’s appalling at just how horrible someone could treat a dog, but sadly, there are people who have done just that. In Parker County, Texas a pug-mix breed dog was found with a severely swollen tongue that was clearly the workings of a horrible human being. According to investigators, the dog (named Hope) was found left on the side of the road, with gashes nearly five inches long covering her body. They say that someone took electrical tape, attached it to the dog’s tongue, wrapped it around her mouth, taping the dog’s mouth shut. Thankfully, someone found the poor pup – that someone was Melanie LaBrake.

In the video below, you can see the brief story of Hope’s rescue and recovery from her torturing. We find out Hope’s story about just how she was rescued, thanks to Melanie LaBrake, Hope’s rescuer. While LaBrake was on the phone looking to get help, the dog ended up disappearing into the field, where they needed assistance. It took a number of officers on horseback several hours to look for the severely injured dog. Luckily they found her and were able to get her the care she so desperately needed. It took nearly 100 stitches to close all of her wounds. It’s a very emotional video, especially LaBrake reunites with the dog after a time apart and the rescuer gets choked up over the canine. It’s heartbreaking to think about what the poor dog when through, but knowing that she persevered and is going to be better is very uplifting and lovely to think about.

Just days after her miraculous rescue, Hope’s condition began to improve and soon calls were coming in to the local sheriff’s office with offers from people to adopt the canine – even as far as New Zealand! In the end, she went home with Kit and Charlie Moncrief and is currently living in her loving forever home.
