Have You Ever Wondered How Long Dogs are Pregnant?

Have you ever wondered how long dogs are pregnant? I think that most people assume a dog runs the same pregnancy cycle as a human female, but we are intricately different machines on so many levels.   Is that an accurate thing to think? Well, the truth is, how long dogs are pregnant and how long humans are pregnant are not even close to being the same number. Crazy, right?

A human being will take 9 months from conception to birth. For dogs, you have roughly two months from conception to birth. Yup, that’s true. It all varies depending on breed and size, but generally, 58-65 days seems about average. Now keep in mind, dogs also have more needs when they are pregnant. So it may only be two months, but they will be months that require much attention and such from you. So you have about nine weeks, in total.

Doesn’t seem like a lot of time, and it isn’t. But that just shows you how complex of machines canines really are. Think about that. In the time it takes most adults to figure out if they hate a TV show, a dog can get pregnant and give birth. Also, keep in mind, for humans that nine months is often for one child. With a dog, that nine weeks could be for a litter of puppies.

Just the thought would make most women want to pass out. Heck, it makes us dizzy even thinking about it.
