Did you Know that Raw Honey has Multiple Benefits For Dogs?

There are many things that humans eat that are not good for consumption by dogs, like grapes, chocolate, macadamia nuts and more. Honey is not one of those things – in fact, raw honey can be highly beneficial for our furry four-legged friends. Raw honey is often used as alternative medicine in many cultures and is known to have many healing attributes, which is also a reason why we tend to put it in our tea. Using raw honey for dogs is becoming popular among holistic pet care as well as every day pet owners because of its healing effects and health benefits.

While it may be initial instinct for dog owners to question the sugar content in raw honey, the answer is simple: raw honey is easily digested and can be broken down slowly in the form of natural sugar compared to the heavier processed sugar. Because of this, it can even increase energy levels, even in older dogs! It contains many vitamins, including B6, B12, C, D, E, and folic acid, as well as calcium, magnesium, iron, and copper. It’s a good source of antioxidants and is even believed to contain anti-cancer properties and agents.

Raw honey provides a lot of great health benefits for your dog. It’s a great digestive aid, thanks to its live enzymes and amylase, which is an enzyme that aids the proper digestion of carbs. If your dog has gastrointestinal problems, honey could be just the remedy because of its antibacterial properties. ┬áIt is great for those dogs who suffer from gastritis, colitis as well as other GI problems that stem from the overgrowth of bacteria. It’s also helpful and beneficial for dogs who suffer from environmental allergies to consume raw honey on a daily basis. For large dogs, one tablespoon a day of raw honey is ideal, while for small dogs, one teaspoon a day is plenty.
