September 11, 2001 is a day that our nation will never forget. It was on this terrible day that the world changed for all of us – but none more so than the loved ones of those whose lives were lost at the hands of terrorists. It’s been 14 years since this horrible tragedy occurred, and we cannot even begin to forget where we were, what we were doing and how this affected our lives at the time. We know that there were men and women who came to help those who were trapped in the rubble in New York City at Ground Zero, but most of us forget that these men and women were not the only heroes on that tragic day. There were animals there, too. Bretagne was only 2 when she deployed with Texas Task Force 1 to help as a search and rescue dog in the rubble.

This gorgeous Golden Retriever spent her time looking through the rubble with her handler, Denise Corliss, so that they could find those who were still trapped and rescue them on a day that they thought their lives might end. There were many people lost in the collapse of the towers, the crashes of those two airplanes and everything that happened in New York City that day, but countless lives were also saved by the quick thinking and rescue efforts that the rest of the world offered.

Bretagne and her handler did their job; they searched for survivors and found many. There are so many people that owe their lives to this dog and her wonderful handler on that terrible day, and that’s why the people at Barkpost decided that they wanted to do something wonderful for this dog and her handler. They flew the two to New York City to celebrate the Best Dog Day Ever! These two had a complete blast and were honored all over the city for their selfless work and their heroism. They were loved, appreciated and pampered, and no two deserve it more.
