Missing Long Island Dog Cookie is Returned to Family

Just yesterday we reported on the missing Bijon-Shitzu Cookie that went missing after a Long Island home was burglarized.  And just yesterday it was reported that Cookie has been returned to her family according to Police.  Police also said that the dog was in good condition.   When his owner, Gus Lafkas returned to his home last Monday he saw that the front dog was open only to see that his house had been burglarized and his dog stolen.

“He’s not the type of dog that would just run off,” she said. “He’s a homebody, always in the backyard or in the house with us. Definitely, somebody took him,” said Patty Lafkas, Gus’s wife.  The Nassau County SPCA had offered a $1,000 reward for the return of the dog, but it was unclear whether it had been claimed.

We’re still not 100% how Cookie was returned and under what circumstances.  We’re just glad that she’s safe and back with her owners.
