Why Not Utilize A Basset Hound Rescue For Your New Pet?

Basset Hound

There are many different dog breeds in the world today.  I am not sure how the American Kennel Club keeps up with them all.  But one dog that has been around long before many is the Basset Hound.  These very cute dogs, with their long ears and sometimes sad looking face, are very adorable.

But since they have been around a long time and they are popular dogs, finding homes for them has sometimes proven difficult.  But thanks to a new trend, these dogs and many other breeds are becoming protected from the dreaded county dog pound.

Basset Hound Rescue groups are popping up all over the place.  These no kill kennels are paving the way to humane treatment of the breed.  You can now find these groups in just about every state in the union.  Most of these groups are 100% non-profits and they run their facilities on donations and adoption fees.

A great alternative to getting your new Basset Hound from a breeder is to utilize one of these rescue groups.  Not only will you be giving a dog in need a new and permeant home, but you will be helping other animals as well.  You see, most of these groups are always full of dogs.  Only when someone comes to adopt an animal can they take in new ones.  So if you adopt one dog, then another gets spared from the needle.  This is a win-win situation don’t you think?

So if you have your heart set on one of these fine animals, please try to find a local group that can assist you.  If you live in an area of the country that doesn’t have a group close by, you can still get your new animal from one.  Many of these groups are set up to ship dogs all over the country.  With pet transporters springing up all over the nation, you can now have your new pet brought to your door step.  While this may cost a little extra, the good you will do surely will be 100% worth the extra money that it will take.
