An obese Ohio dog who was fed nothing but fast food is now on his way to a much healthier diet and lifestyle. Dennis the dog was taken off the fast food diet by his new owners, and lost 56 pounds in two years. Dennis was overweight back then. Just take a look at the before and after photos and you will clearly see the difference in his looks especially his size. He sure weighed four times the regular Dachshund pup before.
As you can see in the picture, his big body didn’t match with his small head. His body was very heavy that he would be catching his breath after taking only a few steps, which caused him to be inactive and sit most of the time. Things weren’t looking good for the pooch until someone came to his rescue. Brooke Burton, a relative to Dennis’s previous owner who fed him White Castle burgers. The second Brooke saw the pup she became very concerned about his health. She couldn’t believe how overweight the dog was and she wasn’t even sure what breed the pup was supposed to be. So she convinced her relative to let her adopt Dennis.
Dennis is now six but he is a healthy and active dog. He is on a regimen of dry dog food with lots of regular walks and playing in the backyard. He is also getting lots of love and affection from his new owner. According to Brooke, Dennis was depressed for a while but right after he lost his extra weight he became a happy and active dog, who loves to chase squirrels in the yard and play with everyone. But with his quick weight loss, Dennis started to have problems with his saggy and loose skin that gets in the way when he walks. So his new owner took to him to a vet surgeon and had the extra skin surgically removed.
Now Dennis is totally happy with his regular weight and he can run around and play without any loose skin in the way. I hope this story will serve as a reminder to all of us dog lovers and owners to refrain from giving our pups any fast food.
