Imagine you are a policeman and you’ve been in a car chase for a long time only to come up empty handed. You chased the car only to find it abandoned. Only in this case the car wasn’t completely abandoned. Back on August 24th, police in New Zealand recovered a car from a chase only to find a little puppy hiding underneath one of the seats. The two officers who rescued the puppy instantly took to her and one of them permanently adopted her.
The initial chase occurred when officers pulled a car over for failing to stop when asked. When they searched the car there was the six week old puppy under one of the seats. The puppy was brought to the pound where it stayed for a week so that the owners could claim her but no one did. During that entire week the officers that rescued the puppy continued to visit her. Once the week had expired one of the officers took her home.
“They were fighting over it, so they might have tossed a coin for it, I don’t know,” said Christchurch Animal Shelter worker Brenda Woolley. We’re so glad she’s safe and home with a new owner! Story via
