Mabel is a very large St. Bernard, as they typically are. She’s a free spirit with a big personality and a love of adventure and life in general. When the dog was exploring her neighborhood in Maryland, she came across a well that stands 30-feet deep. She wanted to know what was inside the well, apparently, so she leaned into it. Unfortunately, the large dog somehow fell into the well and was not able to escape. She was stuck there, and there was nothing she could do about it. We have no idea how she was found or how anyone realized she was down there, but we can only assume that someone either saw her fall in or heard her calling for help as she was stuck in there.
Local firefighters were called to see what they could do to save this dog, and they were able to get her out and return her to her worried family. The good news is not just that she was found in the well and rescued, either. The good news is that she’s relatively unscathed after her exceptional adventure. She is not injured and appears not to have any major worries. She’s got her health and her good spirits. Fortunately, we don’t see her going near that well anytime again in the near future. We have a sneaking suspicion she’s going to spend a bit more of her time being careful rather than being careless. That makes us feel pretty good about her rescue.
