When Prissy was brought to an animal shelter in New Hampshire after she was rescued from a life of neglect tin Tennessee, she was scared. She had spent most of her life chained to a concrete pad in her owner’s yard in the sweltering heat of summer and the freezing temperatures of winter. She was a dog that had no love, no affection and no idea what she had done so wrong in her life to deserve this kind of treatment. When she was brought to the shelter, she was treated better; but she was still scared. There were new cages, new dogs, new people and so much noise. When the doctors took her back to spay her, she was even more terrified.
When one of the shelter volunteers, Chrissy, noticed the sweet dog was terrified, she made the decision to lie down with her on the floor and comfort her the best she could. She cuddled the scared dog and made sure that she felt the love and affection that comes with being still with someone who obviously cares about animals. Chrissy loves animals, and she didn’t like to see this sweet dog so scared and so terrified now that she is on the path to a much better life. Now that Prissy is in the shelter, she will be evaluated and eventually placed up for adoption so that she can have the kind of love and affection that comes with having a wonderful family all of her own.
