Shy and Scared Dog Shows Up in Shelter with Awful Injuries No One Could See

mama the dog

Meet Mama, a beautiful two-year-old lab with a shining personality. When she was brought into the North Shore Animal Shelter recently, she was very shy and she was terrified. She did not want anything to do with humans and she was very fearful of them. She would eat and she would play with the other dogs, but she would not do anything that involved coming near a human. It was decided at that point that Mama had been seriously abused at some point, and that was why she was so scared of humans. It was not until she was taken into the vet’s office for her evaluation and to see if she was healthy that it was discovered that her body was riddled with pellets from a gun; she had hundreds of them just below her skin.

The poor dog had been shot with a pellet gun on numerous occasions, and it was disgusting the kind of shape she was in. She’s been treated since then and she is doing much better. In the weeks she’s been at the large no-kill shelter, she’s come a long way. She is now learning to trust humans and their goodness. She was simply the victim of a horrible person who does horrible things to lovely animals, and thankfully she’s been able to overcome a bit of that in recent weeks. Now she is healing and waiting until she is able to find a family she can call her own for the rest of her life.
