Spain Opens up the First Pool for Dogs

They’re called “man’s best friend” and are incredibly intelligent, so why shouldn’t dogs be able to go almost anywhere people can go? After all, we have designated dog parks where dogs can partake in human-like activities like run around and play as well as socialize with others. Dogs are also allowed at many beaches, with even special designated dog beaches where, again, they can enjoy the perks of nature just as humans do. The fact that so many dogs know how to and are capable of swimming, you would think that a dog pool would be the next thing to get in order – in fact, it already exists! Spain has opened up the first pool for dogs, and the news isĀ nothing short of amazing!

The Resort Canino Can Jane resort in the town of Roca del Valles boasts the first-ever dog pool. Now, when people go on vacation and stay at the resort, they don’t have to leave their canine friends behind – the dogs are allowed to stay. About 30 minutes from Barcelona, the resort is a five-star hotel for canines with the perfect pool designed specifically for dogs in mind. The pool has been designed to be the correct depth for dogs of all shapes and sizes. Federico Cano is the manager of the resort and said that while he had previously seen a resort that allowed dogs to swim alongside humans, he decided to take it even further and making a resort exclusively for dogs.

“I don’t see why dogs should not be allowed to enjoy a swim when the weather gets hot just like people can – especially here in Spain where it gets really hot,” Cano has said. “I designed it so that it was a little bit like a beach with a gradual slope that is exactly what dogs appreciateā€¦. The best thing is that they really burn off a lot of energy coming here.”
