Ten Ways You Can Dress up Your Dog for Holidays
The holidays are a special time of year, no matter which version of the holidays you prefer. For most, the holidays means the Thanksgiving and Christmas and New Year season, but for others it might mean something else. There are, after all, so many holidays from which to choose when it comes to proper attire and costume-decisions. Halloween is popular, but what about St. Patrick’s Day or Easter or Valentine’s Day? And let’s not forget July 4th. If you have a dog and you like to dress said dog for the holidays, we don’t blame you. There is nothing cuter – or slightly cruel – than a dog dressed up in a costume for the respective holiday (some say mean, I say payback for those chewed shoes, midnight squirrel barking and that time the dining room rug became a peepee mat). With that said, here’s a little inspiration for you and your canine companion.

All Dressed Up
Sometimes you have to have a dog in a tie to fully understand that life is just worth living. And this dog is all dressed up. We just hope he has somewhere to go. I think the lesson here in dressing your dog for the holidays is that sometimes simple is better. You don’t have to go all out and dress your dog in a million layers or different pieces to create an effect everyone will remember. This way, the costume is minimal and chances are good that your dog will not hate you quite so much at the end of the day.

Ugly Sweater Party
What is the holiday season without an ugly sweater party? I mean, you have to have an ugly sweater for this season, and these dogs are just seriously doing their job to show you what it looks like to wear something hideous. Of course, they’re cute so they’re not so bad in their sweaters. To make this look far more entertaining and enjoyable, we recommend that you also get yourself and your spouse (kids are a total bonus here) matching sweaters so that the entire family has the same sweater. It seems like a win-win to me.

Bandana Pups
What we’ve learned here is that you don’t have to be a supermodel to rock a bandana, nor do you need a hat to rock the holiday spirit. Of course, it does help that this adorable duo does have a sort of Santa face already going on what with all that fuzzy white fur on their chins. It’s a pretty good situation for us if you want to go there, but we think that you’re going to find that these cuties look good in the holiday photos even without a suit, tie and reindeer ears.

The Elf Dog
The only thing more fun than an actual elf to call your own at the holiday season is a dog that looks like an elf. Sure, this dog doesn’t seem to love this costume, but fashion is pain and it so often requires a bit of sacrifice, does it not? Personally, I think that this dog looks amazing and it’s a great example of how you should dress your dog this Christmas for family photos and any holiday gatherings you might host at home. So what if the dog has no dignity at the end of the night? It’s the holidays.

The Doggie Trio
These pups love their hats and ribbons. Sure, they look a little depressed and unhappy about it, but it’s just the breed. They have this naturally unhappy look about them, but they really are smiling on the inside. Deep, deep on the inside they are smiling like they really do mean it. On second thought, they do look a bit like snowmen, don’t you think? Large white bodies, hats and a few cute ribbons? Yes, we think that we’re going to call these pups the Frosty Trio.

If you Like it You Should have Put a Wreath on It
Listen; there are women out there looking to get engaged around the holidays, and sometimes they don’t think that their men know that it’s time. Hints are dropped; sometimes picked up and sometimes ignored. But then there’s this; a dog with a big old wreath around it. If you have a hint to drop, we like the idea of dressing up the dog like this and making him sit still for a photo shoot to Beyonce’s hit song so that he knows it’s time to put a ring on it.

The Office Party
What to wear, what to wear? It’s the question we ask endlessly this time of year when we have office parties and other events to attend. Do you go festive and fun and more party-like, or do you keep it appropriate and wear only things that you would to work? Let’s take a lesson from this dog and wear something that’ work appropriate. And in fact, why not take your dog to work like this on this particular day? What a hit that would be.

The Christmas Hat
Nothing screams holiday spirit like a hat, so this really does work out quite well. It’s simple, but effective. You can dress up your dog like this for photos and holiday gatherings and it might not even hate you at the end of the day. Of course, he or she might totally hate you at the end of the day since you did dress him up and dogs aren’t huge fans of clothing, but you get the point. This is a dog that might just love it or hate it. Either way, he’s going to wear it.

Santa’s Little Helper
When you have a dog this cute and sweet, it only makes sense to turn it into Santa’s little helper so that you make a big statement. You do get to have an elf, your kids aren’t sitting still to be dressed like this, and no one else wants to play holiday dress up with you. That’s where the dog comes in; she will play dress up with you so that you can live out your holiday fantasies of doing weird things to your animals.

Christmas Tree Cutie
We love a good Christmas tree, and a dog that matches. This adorable little pup doesn’t even seem to mind that he’s dressed in this cute little ensemble. In fact, we think that you should get a little dog for the holiday season since they are so easily dressed and so happy to have whatever you want them in for the time being. We love this dog, this tree and this little outfit.
