With all the new designer dogs out their today people often don’t know what they are getting. When you cross two totally different dog breeds the results can be very good or very bad. In the case of the Dachshund Beagle Mix, it can go either way. Sometimes these dogs run into behavioral issues and if not properly handled can turn out bad for both the animal and the owner.
Make Them Learn the Basics of Obedience
While most of these dogs have very good temperaments, there are some that can really be less than desirable. Their feisty nature can have an adverse effect on their temperament and this can lead to biting. This is not good when you have small children in the house. To curb this problem before it gets out of control you should take your new puppy to be obedience training done by a professional. This doesn’t have to cost a lot of money and you can probably find a good trainer at your local big box pet store. It may take several weeks to train your dog so make sure that you have the time to spend with your animal. You wouldn’t want to just drop off your dog and expect the trainer to do all of the hard work for you.
Failure to Socialize Can Led To Disaster
After the animal has gotten down the basics, you should start socializing the dog around other people and animals outside of the home. This could be something as simple as taking a walk in the park or going over to the neighbor’s house with your dog. This is a great way for them to meet people that are not in the family. It will help them to get over the fear of strangers that many of these dogs have and this will help deter biting. This will allow people to visit your home without the fear of your dog biting them as well.
With Proper Conditioning These Dogs Make Wonderful Pets
When you combine socialization and obedience training, you will get a well-rounded dog that everyone in the family will love to be around. These dogs can make really loving pets and you will get years of enjoyment out of them. So if you are thinking of getting one of these dogs make sure to follow the proper protocol and you will have a very amazing new pet to bring into the home.
