This Chihuahua Rescuer Does Something That Will Blow Your Mind

Chihuahua Rescuer

Did you know that Chihuahuas are the second most euthanized dog in the state of Arkansas? That’s what Kari Mogensen found out, and she wasn’t too happy about it. To help out, she decided she was going to rescue Chihuahuas back in 2012. She began the Arkansas Chihuahua Rescue from her home in Little Rock. She began taking in the dogs that were in danger of being euthanized and trying to find them loving homes on her own. She also took in sick dogs and those that were a bit older and in danger of being killed when they were not adopted. It’s not something that is a new concept as many people run rescues and shelters from home. However, someone called animal control and he came to her door. Nothing happened other than he asked a few questions, but he showed up a week later and decided that she had too many dogs in one house.

She’d thought she was doing the right thing by keeping her house spotless even with ten dogs inside, and that she knew all the rules. Apparently, though, she did not have the information that this does not actually apply to rescues, and she was breaking some laws. For a year and-a-half, she fought court battles against the city, who wanted her to remove the dogs from home. She was stressed and upset, and she fought hard. She wasn’t able to win, however, so she moved. She’s heartbroken to be renting out her house to people she says don’t keep it up the way she would love, she now has to make an even longer commute to work and she had to give up her home. But she says she would do it all over again, because she’s not giving up these animals that need her so.
