First off, we do not mean when a dog sits. When we say dog sitting, we are talking about having someone come when you are not around and babysit your dog. Thus, dog sitting. Some people see it is extravagant and not essential, while others swear it can make all the difference in the world. So what do we think about dog sitting? Well, our answer doesn’t matter. It all comes down to what is best for each individual dog.
Let’s say you have a dog that goes a little stir crazy when you leave it alone for too long? Or a dog that just howls and howls in your absence, driving your neighbors crazy? There is nothing wrong with have someone who is dog sitting in those situations. But you can also curve some of those behaviors with some simple actions, too. So it really boils down to what you have the money for, really. There is no right or wrong answer. If you have someone dog sitting your dog for 100 hours a week, that may be a problem, though. At that point, the dog sees the sitter more than you. How does it know which one of you two is really its family?
The truth is, like most dog scenarios, the answer is up to you. In some cases, it is helpful to have someone dog sitting. In other cases, it is just an owner not wanting to deal with the responsibility. So ask yourself, which one are you?
