Ticks Nearly Kill Dog but She Makes Full Recovery

dog covered in ticks

Dogs become homeless all the time, especially when they reside in homes in which their owners are neglectful and awful. This beautiful dog is named Blossom. She is a dog that was found wandering the streets in Athens, almost dead because she was covered in thousands of ticks. Thousands of tiny blood suckers were attached to her body and had been for so long that her body was nearly void of blood, and she was near death.

She was also found with a chain so tightly wound around her tail that it was clear it had been there since she was a tiny puppy. The chain did not grow with her body and it cut off all the circulation to her tail a long time ago. When rescuers found her, they knew they had to save her. Her tail was hopelessly dead and had to be amputated, but her body was able to be saved. She needed blood, she needed the thousands of ticks removed from her body, and she needed a lot of medical care.

Fortunately, she was able to get all that and more. This sad, nearly dead dog is now a healthy animal with a loving home and a full recovery to credit to those who found her and saved her life. Stories such as this one rarely have such happy endings, but we are happy to say that her story is different. Check out the video below for more information on Blossom’s story and her wonderful recovery.
