The Truth About Rottweiler Temperament

Rottweiler

When it comes to dog personalities, big dogs sometimes get blamed for being aggressive in nature.  But many of these large working dogs are very sweet and never show signs of aggression.  One of these big canine breeds is the Rottweiler.  This breed has been victim of unfair judgment simply due to their size and purpose.  While these dogs do make great watch dogs and are very loyal, it doesn’t mean they are vicious.

Rottweiler Temperament can of course vary between different animals but for the most part if properly socialized, they can make great pets.  They are very loving dogs that may even wish to cuddle their owners at night and sleep with them in the bed.  But the first sign of danger to the family, these fearless dogs will not hesitate to protect their owners and their home.

These very powerful animals will fit right in with even the smallest family pet if properly introduced and if they are raised together.  In addition, this breed can even get along with cats.  In fact, there are many people who own these dogs that also have several cats in the same home.  So if you have other pets but you had your heart set on getting a Rottweiler, you can rest easy, knowing that your new puppy will grow up to love other members of the household.

If you do get one of these dogs, remember that they are very highly energetic animals.  They will need lots of time to run around and play before being placed either back inside the home or in their outdoor cages. These dogs can become destructive if they feel bored or don’t have a way to release all that energy.  So make sure you are active enough to suit the needs of this dog.  If you have mobility issues, you might want to consider another type of dog or have someone that can help take time up with the animal.  When they are puppies they have been known to go through a destructive stage so make sure to keep this in mind.

This well rounded and very loyal canine will make the perfect family pet for the right family.  If your family loves to spend time outside then this is the perfect pet for you.  These beautiful dogs have been kept as both pets and family protection dogs for many centuries.  So for the best of both worlds, you should consider one of these pooches for your next pet.
