There was once a time in my life that I will never forget. My husband and I were the proud parents of two little girls. They were five and two at the time; and they asked us if they could have a baby brother or sister for Christmas. Mind you, it was June when they asked. To make a long story short-ish, we’d already been thinking we weren’t ready to call that part of our lives a day just yet. We thought we’d go for baby number three. Come July, baby number three was on the way and we thought our little girls would be so happy when the time to announce to them that mommy was pregnant arrived. One wanted a sister and one wanted a brother so badly; and they were so excited. They argued and argued over which they’d get until the morning of our 18-week ultrasound when our oldest daughter came into our bedroom and told us that she dreamed that we found out the babies were a girl and a boy so that they’d each get the baby they wanted.
We laughed and laughed and told her that was impossible given mommy was only carrying one baby in her belly. By the end of the day when we told them that they were actually getting a girl and a boy, they were all-knowing. It’s like the dogs in this video. They loved their rubber duck toys and their parents just knew they wanted some baby ducks for their own to call their new best friends. So when they decided to take in a pair of baby ducks from a local rescue, their dogs were thrilled. Just check out this video to see how excited and thrilled they really are about their darling ducks.
