If You Want a Perfect Shih Tzu and Pomeranian Cross Consider a Shiranian

Hybrid dog breeds have become all the rage these days and for good reason.  These designer pooches are both very cute and often times very healthy breeds.  One of the most popular breed of these adorable little animals is the Shiranian.  The Shiranian is a cross between a Shih Tzu and a Pomeranian.  Often 50% mixtures of both of these breeds, Shiranians are very beautiful dogs.

Recognized by the American Canine Hybrid Club and the International Designer Canine Registry, the Shiranian has become a mainstream breed that everyone seems to love.  While still not accepted under the most mainstream purebred organizations such as the American Kennel Club, the Shiranian still has a uniformed look and size.  This will surely one day get them recognized as a standard breed.

Characteristic of the Shiranian

When it comes to coat size and length, Shiranians have coats very similar to Shih Tzu’s.  Long and luxurious, their coats have to be properly maintained in order to prevent tangling and matting.  This can be achieved by having them groomed once a month.  The color of the Shiranian will range widely depending on the parents and may even come out multi-colored.

Shiranians are small to medium sized dogs that range in size from 7 to 12 inches and weigh around 10 pounds when fully mature.  This is the perfect size for an indoor pet and will be easy to handle even for a person who has limited mobility.

Very intelligent animals, Shiranians are very easy to train and will learn simple commands very quickly.  When it comes time to house break your Shiranian, you will find there won’t be many accidents before they learn what to do.

A very energetic dog, the Shiranian will need lots of time to run around.  So keep this in mind when thinking of purchasing one of these animals.  While you don’t need a lot of room to keep one of these cute little dogs happy, taking it for a walk once or a few times a day is a good idea. But remember these are inside dogs and they don’t do well if left outside for long periods of time.

Shiranians make perfect family pets

While some small dog breeds such as the Chihuahua can be aggressive towards children, the Shiranian is very docile and friendly animal.  This makes it the perfect pet for those who have children or other small animals living in the household.  Shiranian also makes great pets for seniors who are looking for a companion animal.

So if you are looking for a super sweet little dog to add joy to your family, why not purchase a Shiranian?  You can’t go wrong with one of these lovely little dogs.
