People keep finding out about CBD oil and its many benefits. It can be used as a treatment for so many things that you begin to question medicine.  With all its benefits, you’re probably wondering if your dog could also enjoy the advantages of this miracle product. You might want to know if it’s safe or not.  Well, this article provides information about CBD oils and its benefits and will tell you what you should know before giving it to your dog.

What is CBD oil?

CBD is extracted from cannabis or hemp. It has become so popular because it has a lot of health benefits. It contains about more than 100 cannabinoids that interact with the body’s endocannabinoid system. Consequently, it has certain effects on your body, depending on your health issues.

So, it offers relief and treatment for:

  • Pain
  • Diabetes
  • Inflammation
  • Seizures
  • Depression
  • Arthritis
  • Anxiety
  • Spasms

Although its source seems scary at first, you’ll be surprised to know that CBD doesn’t make you high.

Is CBD oil safe for dogs?

Vets are usually unsure whether CBD is good for dogs or not. When it comes to THC, it’s not advised to be given to dogs. THC is the psychoactive compound in marijuana, so it’s not a good thing to do. Moreover, it can actually be dangerous to dogs.

However, things are not that clear when it comes to CBD. There are no studies conducted on CBD to say if it’s safe and efficient in treating animals. However, that could change in the close future. There are studies planned, and the truth will come to the surface.

Although many CBD lovers have declared that it helped their dogs with anxiety and pain, you shouldn’t blindly believe them.

What should you know before giving CBD oil to your dog?

Before you decide to give CBD oil to your furry friend, there are some things you should keep in mind.

  • Warning signs: This is very important, as CBD can have side effects on your dog. Keep a journal where you note everything you notice about your pet. When something seems wrong, it’s essential to notice it and check with your vet. Some side effects reported by humans taking CBD are tremors, dry mouth, drowsiness, and lightheadedness.
  • Proper research: Before purchasing any CBD oil product, you need to do your research; especially if you take it from the Internet. Check the reviews and have a clear image of the oil. It’s important to buy legit products and not become a victim of false claims.
  • Natural doesn’t equal better: Just because the product info screams “natural”, it doesn’t mean it’s good. No marijuana or CBD product is natural. Unless it’s unprocessed marijuana, any other thing has been somehow altered and processed. Moreover, natural products can be dangerous as well. Therefore, don’t rely on that.

If you decide to use your CBD oil for dogs, you should take some things into consideration and not just dive in. This guide had hopefully told you what you should take into account before you give this product to your pet.
