Knowing all the benefits of celery for humans, it is also been determined to be good for dogs, too.

So, can dogs eat celery?

According to Heather Loenser, DVM, who happens to be the Senior Veterinary Officer at the American Animal Hospital Association, it is okay to give celery to your dog as a snack option in small amounts, along with their regular, balanced diet.

How to serve celery to your pup

Celery is best given cut up in small pieces and should only be given to your dog at first, in small increments to see if he can handle the celery. You don’t want him to develop a sick stomach, choke, or have any other reaction. Here’s one way you can make a tasty celery treat for your dog:

Celery Treat

Ingredients:

• Celery
• Peanut butter (Xylitol-free)
• Small dog treats

Take your pieces of celery and fill them with peanut butter (make sure the peanut butter you choose does not contain Xylitol which is harmful and toxic to dogs). Put them on a plate and add the small dog treats along the peanut butter line before sticking them into the fridge to chill.

Once your treats have chilled, cut them into small bits and give them as a tasty treat in between meals. You can use them as training treats, if they’re small enough, or regular treats as a healthy snack option. Your dog will love them and he will get the benefits of both the celery and the peanut butter every time he eats them.
