Five Things You Didn’t Know about the Jack Russell Terrier

The Jack Russell Terrier is quite a breed. Energetic and full of character, they are a difficult dog to ignore, and an even more difficult dog to not fall in love with. While many people know how charismatic and emotive there are, there are some things we bet you don’t know about the Jack Russell Terrier. Here are five things you may not have known.

Not Big Fans of Cats

Hey, we know some dogs and cats get along marvelously, and some, not so much. The Jack Russell Terrier falls into the “not so much” category. Keep in mind there are exceptions to this rule, but for the most part, they are not big fans of Garfield.

They Live To Play Catch

We know this goes under the “they are charismatic” category, but there are few breeds who enjoy playing catch us much as the Jack Russell Terrier. They are quite good at it, too.

They Have Two Types of Coats

You may think all Jack Russell Terriers have the same kind of coat, but you would be wrong. There are two types of coats these dogs are known for having. They either have a smooth or a broken coat type. The broken simply means there is more long hair on certain parts of the dog.

Give Them Open Spaces

If you have a Jack Russell Terrier, and you live in a small apartment, you are gonna have a bad time. Well, that is not totally true. But they do need their space to move and run and let out some of that energy that always seem to have. A good, long walk on the beach is a great for them, too.

Great For Agility Competitions

Because of how fast and agile they are, they are great for agility and speed competitions. We know many people know this breed to be competitive, and for good reason. These dogs are fast and react super quickly to changes in terrain and environment. It is actually rather impressive when seen in motion.
