Mailman Builds a Ramp so Old Dog Can Still Greet Him

You’ve likely heard the stereotype of how mailmen and dogs just don’t get along. It’s been a longstanding joke for many years that delves into a very humorous and sometimes negative dynamic between mailmen and the over-protective canines that are at times a very real detriment to their job. Every now and again however it can be said that the stereotype falls far short of reality. In the case of one old dog and one mailman, the story is actually quite different.

Jeff and Tashi

In Boulder, Colorado, mailman Jeff Kramer has effectively negated the stereotype that exists between dogs and mailmen thanks to his long-term relationship with Tashi, an aging canine and member of the Dimetrosky family. For years Tashi has greeted Jeff whenever he delivers mail to the Dimetrosky house, showing his affection in such a way that has become both heartwarming and far beyond the norm. Dogs are often noted for their incessant need to bark, snarl, and even jump at the fence when mail carriers even come near their property, but Tashi has always found a reason to come and welcome Jeff as he goes about his job.

But over the years, as is normal, Tashi has been having a harder and harder time getting up and down the stairs leading up to the family’s porch. Jeff, being the kindhearted and patient person he is, took note of this early on and would go so far as to bring Tashi back up the steps when the going got rough. He could always depend on Tashi to come and greet him, and in return Tashi could always depend on Jeff to get back to his porch without any undue injury.

Jeff couldn’t help but notice that despite his growing infirmity, Tashi was still bound and determined to come say hello every time he came near, and so he decided to do something that could make Tashi’s life a little easier. It isn’t every mail carrier that would go to such lengths for a single dog, but Jeff is obviously no ordinary mailman. On his day off Jeff actually took the time to come over to the Dimetrosky house to install a ramp that will allow Tashi to go to and from the porch in an easy and less-risky manner while still allowing him to move about without any need for aid.

The Dimetrosky’s are extremely grateful to Jeff for his contribution and have always been appreciative of this unique mail carrier’s devotion to their faithful canine. They are hopeful that Tashi will be around for some time to come, but are most grateful that their canine companion is able to fully enjoy his midday meetings with his favorite mailman.

Conclusion

It goes to show that you can’t always rely on the accepted stereotypes when determining the relationships between individuals. While Jeff and Tashi aren’t likely to be considered the norm when it comes to relationships between mailmen and canines, they are certainly a pleasant and inspirational exception.
