The 20 Most Owned Dog Breeds of 2017

9. Rottweiler

Do you need a good guard and watch dog? Rottweiler’s will keep anyone away from your property just by looking at him or hearing his big bark. The Rottweiler has a very intimidating look and bark, which is why they are often owned for protection. They are large, strong and very confident and they will protect their owner and family at any cost. Although generally aloof with strangers, they are very affectionate and loving with their family. They do require extensive training and socialization starting from a young puppy, but when done correctly, the Rottweiler makes a good pet for the right family. Males are generally a bit more headstrong than females, however, both are able to have a bit of a stubborn streak, so training should be firm and consistent. Rottweiler’s have been a popular breed for many years, especially for those who want a protective-type dog.
