The 20 Most Owned Dog Breeds of 2017

10. Dachshund

This is a breed that is commonly seen in families and the elderly due to its small stature. For those who do not want, or cannot handle a big breed, yet still want a good watch dog in combination with a lap dog, you get both with the Dachshund. The other name the Dachshund is known by, is the “wiener dog,” which is pretty self-explanatory. They are cute and easy to manage when it comes to grooming, however, they do need good socialization from a young age, as they can have a bit of a protective nature and may get aggressive with those they don’t know. Dachshunds have been a popular breed of dog for many years, and they continue to be a common dog to own for many people.
