Watch This Dog Scale a Cement Wall at Shelter to Be with Canine Best Friend

Despite a solid cement wall separating them, a pair of puppies proved that their bond couldn’t be contained. Surveillance footage from inside Minneapolis Animal Care and Control (MACC) captured the heartwarming moment when a brown dog defied the barrier to join her companion in the neighboring kennel.
Brenda and Linda arrived at MACC simultaneously, and their connection was immediately apparent. The staff was taken aback when the two pit bulls eagerly approached them at the front of their respective enclosures. It was a sight that required a double-take, leaving the employees in disbelief.
The mystery behind their unwavering attachment was solved thanks to the security camera footage. Brenda had ingeniously scaled the wall to reunite with her friend, Linda. The staff at MACC couldn’t help but be moved by the video, finding it truly awe-inspiring.
These two pups had arrived at the shelter as strays just two weeks prior, during a time when MACC was operating near its capacity. Madison Weissenborn of MACC explained that adoptions were on the decline, while surrenders had increased by 20% compared to the previous year, which had already set records.
“The majority of our cases are due to housing,” Weissenborn stated, emphasizing the challenges faced by individuals moving to places that prohibit specific dog breeds or those experiencing homelessness due to difficult circumstances.
However, the shortage of veterinary technicians was also a significant hurdle faced by the Animal Humane Society, where MACC is located. Dr. Graham Brayshaw, the director of veterinary medicine at AHS, revealed that they currently had only two-thirds of their pre-pandemic vet tech staff, which limited their capacity to assist animals in need.
Moreover, the nationwide trend of slowed large dog adoptions was evident at MACC as well. Dr. Brayshaw attributed this to the “COVID dog” phenomenon, where many people had rushed to adopt dogs during the early stages of the pandemic. As a result, adoption numbers soared but eventually declined, likely to stabilize at a more balanced level.
Given the deep bond between Linda and Brenda, MACC hoped to find them a forever home together. While acknowledging the challenge of placing them as a pair, Weissenborn expressed the shelter’s strong desire for such an outcome. To encourage adoption, MACC announced a weekend promotion where all adoption fees would be waived.
For those unable to adopt, alternative options were suggested to support local animal shelters, such as fostering, donating, or volunteering. By coming together as a community, it became possible to make a difference in the lives of these lovable animals like Linda and Brenda.
