Whippet

This is a dog breed that is very intelligent, and requires stimulation. Many Type A personalities find that they are unable to sit still without a job, a task, something on which to pin their focus, and this is a dog just like that.

Weimaraner

Beautiful dogs, they tend to carry some of the same traits as those with Type A personalities. For example, they are intelligent and task-oriented, and they don’t like to leave a job undone. They prefer to spend their time with a goal in mind.

Tibetan Mastiff

There are those that assume these large dogs are either very aggressive or very slow since they are so big. They are not; they are highly intelligent dogs with many of the same personality traits as a Type A personality, including the need for work and something that drives them.

Siberian Husky

This gorgeous dog is highly intelligent, which means it needs something to keep it motivated and something to provide a bit of a challenge on a daily basis. Without that, this dog will find something to do on its own as it does get tired of waiting around for others to give it a job and tell it what to do. Task-oriented personality traits like this one tend to mimic those of Type A personalities.

Shih Tzu

They’re small, cute and many people make the mistake of thinking that this particular breed is just a lap dog without any care in the world. It’s not the case. This is a dog that is very intelligent and wants to learn. It wants something to do, to focus on, so that it does not become bored or unentertained.

Rottweiler

Big and very scary looking for those who don’t know them personally, this is a breed that can be easily mistaken as aggressive. When trained to be aggressive, this could be the truth. When trained to be as it should, this is an amazing watchdog. It’s a leader that feels that it knows how to get things done correctly and effectively, and that’s what makes it such a goal-oriented dog. It’s often said to be a Type A personality because it does require a task at all times, or it does become a bit restless.

Poodle

Poodles are known as being some of the most intelligent dogs in the world, and for good reason. These are dogs that have a keen sense of understanding and intelligence. They need to be stimulated at all times to keep them from becoming bored, and they are very smart when it comes to their training. It’s thought that they might have a Type A personality since they like to learn, to be the best and to get things done. They almost show off their intelligence.

Maltese

It’s small and fluffy, needs plenty of time with the groomer, and it’s the kind of dog that most people consider a lap dog. It is, for all intents and purposes, but it’s also a very Type A personality kind of dog. It requires stimulation to work its intelligence, and it likes things a certain way. It’s as if this dog knows what it wants and when it wants it, and that makes the dog as uptight as possible about its specifics.

Golden Retriever

You might wonder what makes this dog make the list, since these are such good family dogs with such laid-back personalities. The truth is that they are, but they are also very intelligent and very intense dogs. They almost need something to do at all times so that they are not bored and destructive, and they often feel they can perform a task better than anyone else.

German Shepherd

These are the most beautiful dogs. They are highly intelligent and they have a stare that will just pierce your soul. This breed is smart; it’s focused and it is dedicated. There is a reason it’s considered one of the most useful dogs in terms of police work and therapy work, and that is because it is such an intelligent dog. Without a job to focus on, this dog feels lost and out of sorts.
