The 20 Most Owned Dog Breeds of 2017
14. Bull Mastiff
This extremely large breed of dog, the Bull Mastiff, is on the list of the most common breeds owned. Despite his large size, he is not a very active dog. He does fine with a little play time and a few walks a day, since the breed does not expend a whole lot of energy. Mastiffs were used for the protective nature to be groundskeepers of England’s estates across the country. They are courageous and noble and love their owners deeply. Mastiffs have good dispositions, however, they require you to show them who is in charge or they tend to take over and think they are. This can be a problem. These are commonly owned dogs, especially because of their size and ability to keep strangers at bay. They make great watch dogs just from their sheer size and big bark. Trained right and socialized early, and this is a great family dog – if you have room for his large stature.
