A specialist stationed at Fort Bragg has graciously extended his compassion and hospitality to a canine companion who had gained widespread internet fame after being featured by the SPCA of Wake County.
Bruno, a one-year-old pitbull, has experienced significant adversity from an early age.
Specifically, he was consistently confined to a chain with minimal human interaction and suffered a traumatic injury as a result of an attack by another dog, resulting in the loss of one of his ears.
While residing at the SPCA, Bruno fortuitously gained widespread online attention when a photograph was captured of him playfully ripping the ear off of a stuffed toy dog, resulting in a charmingly endearing likeness between the two.
The viral post depicting Bruno with his toy achieved an impressive number of Facebook shares, exceeding 52,000.
Presently, Bruno continues to cherish the stuffed toy, but now he lounges on a comfortable couch, as opposed to being confined to a restrictive kennel.

Specialist Levi Pinnix, currently stationed at Fort Bragg, was next in line for adopting Bruno, however, due to unforeseen circumstances, Bruno’s first potential adopter had fallen through.
Upon their first meeting, Levi and Bruno quickly became acquainted, with Bruno eagerly and enthusiastically greeting Levi as soon as the door opened.
After spending approximately half an hour playing with Bruno, Levi knew he had found his ideal companion, stating “I knew I was taking him home.”
Levi was pleasantly surprised to find that Bruno was more amiable towards people than initially anticipated, with Bruno exhibiting a warm and welcoming demeanor. Furthermore, Bruno has already been house-trained, adding to the ease of their cohabitation.
Levi, a 27-year-old native of Asheboro, North Carolina, joined the Army in 2021 and was present during the withdrawal in Afghanistan. Levi finds solace and comfort in the presence of Bruno, a dog who has experienced hardship and adversity, yet remains a source of love and warmth.
Levi expressed that he has already received interest from friends back home who are eager to meet Bruno, a beloved addition to his life.
